How would you describe the way you felt the last time you walked out the door, headed to work or a business meeting? You may have had a lot on your mind about what was on your daily agenda, or a project or task. But let's put all the external events and things aside for a moment and focus on you. You. A dynamic, charming, intelligent, multi-talented boss.

How did you feel about you? As women, we often get so wrapped up in the daily hustle and bustle of life that the time for reflection is rare, and when it comes along it may be short and sweet. But given a moment to reflect, once you identify what you were feeling - recognizing the emotions and being in tune with them, you can then dive deeper and ask yourself why. Why am I feeling frantic? Why am I feeling stressed? Why am I feeling excited?

Full transparency into how you feel can empower you to reinforce the positive emotions and inspire you to discover the root cause of the negative emotions, helping you identify where the root of pain or turmoil resides. After identifying the emotions, change can successfully be initiated with willpower and commitment. This is a helpful exercise that you can use to apply for self-reflection and reflection of other situations and circumstances.

If you wouldn't have described yourself as confident the last time you left home headed to work or a professional obligation, I want you to think about why you weren't confident. Were you having a bad day? Were you nervous about something that was scheduled to take place later that day? Or was it something entirely different?

Ladies, the mind has an incredible amount of power. We can often convince ourselves (and even others) of almost anything. Good or bad.

Confidence is defined as firm trust, a feeling of self-assurance arising from one's appreciation of one's own abilities or qualities. I like to think of confidence as the pep in your step, the twinkle in your eye, the joy in your heart. Being confident is both a choice and a mindset. Today I'm going to share five ways confidence can powerfully impact your career.

Confidence is a powerful tool that you can use to achieve success in both your personal and professional life.

1 Productivity

Confidence yields high productivity. A confident woman knows that she is capable of not just the skills but the knowledge to do her work to the best of her ability. And so she does. With confidence, high performance is never a question - it's inevitable.

2 Courage

Confidence enables courage. A confident woman has the power to speak her mind, respectfully no doubt, but nevertheless, does not hesitate to share her opinion or idea with others. Especially at work. In the boardroom, during a brainstorming session, while collaborating with others, confidence and courage go hand in hand.

3 Respect

Confidence commands respect. A confident woman respects herself and is also respected by others. All relationships and interactions include respect. Respect for each other as co-workers and colleagues, as well as their opinions and ideas. Respect is both given and received by a confident woman.

4 Empowerment

Confidence is empowerment. A confident woman has the will and determination to overcome any obstacle that may come her way. She looks a challenge in the eye and says "bring it on". Dreams, goals, and opportunities are chased with passion and a relentless effort for achievement.

5 Happiness

Confidence creates happiness. A confident woman has the satisfaction in herself of her abilities and talents. Happiness also works to your benefit. Happy people are fun to be around and pleasant to work with. People hire, promote, and retain people they like. Skills will take you far, but in some situations, attitude will take you further.

What happens when you have confidence in your career?

You are productive at work, crushing assignments. You have the courage to speak your mind. You are respected by colleagues, earning you a positive reputation at work. You are empowered to take on a new project and learn a new skill. You are happy and content knowing that you are not perfect but you always put your best foot forward.

Confidence is a powerful tool every woman should have in her arsenal every time she leaves home. Confidence is a choice, but your image and your presence are two tangible ways to encourage, motivate and inspire you to live a fulfilled, confident life.
