Are You A Connector?

Have you ever thought about how you connect or interact with others? Are you genuinely interested in helping others improve the quality of their lives?

Connecting with others, whether socially or professionally can be a bit intimidating. However, by creating meaningful conversation, being genuine, and showing them that you care, will make all the difference in how you truly connect.

Connecting is all about your skills, who you are and who they are. It requires energy, effort, and common ground.

Finding things in common with others instantaneously connects you to them and can lead to a lasting relationship.

To truly connect with others, you have to be ready to open up. Most people don't connect because they are guarded. Learning to "Break down the walls" will help you find a common ground. This requires listening, gratitude, understanding, selflessness and most importantly, be present in the conversation.

Regardless of who you are, if you want to succeed, you must learn to connect with others. Reflect on the following six questions and ask yourself... Am I a connector?

1: Do I have a "How can I help" mentality? 2: Do I extend myself outside my comfort zone? 3: Am I actively listening when I ask a question? 4: Do I follow up after meeting someone? 5: Do I inspire others? 6: Do I connect with others beyond words?

As you reflect on these questions, remember, when connecting with others, be true to yourself and create an experience that everyone around you can enjoy. As Nelson Mandela said “If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.”
